The City of North Mankato is excited to announce a police officer career opportunity. One position to be filled immediately.
The City of North Mankato lies approximately 80 miles southwest of Minneapolis/St. Paul along the bluffs of the Minnesota River Valley. With a population of 14,200 North Mankato is neighbored to the east by the City of Mankato and is a key part of the region for retail trade, agriculture, medical care, manufacturing, and education.
The police department enjoys tremendous support from all aspects of the community which is a direct reflection of the department’s commitment to service.
Officers work 12-hour shifts which are bid yearly based upon seniority.
-MN POST Board licensed or eligible to be licensed at time of application
-Valid driver’s License
Lateral entry qualifications:
-Three or more years of current full-time peace officer experience in good standing.
-Demonstrated professional growth: continuing education, specialized training and/or experience, additional work assignments (e.g., FTO, CISM team, SRO, U/F instructor, etc.)
Lateral hires with 3 or more years of service will receive 45 hours of banked vacation and sick time. (Subject to use under current collective bargaining unit contract language) as well as a 1500.00 hiring bonus with 750.00 paid after 6 months of hire, and 750.00 paid after completion of the 12-month probationary period.
Lateral hires will undergo an abbreviated FTO process based on experience.

Starting salary range: $76,176 – $80,028 (2022 rates) depending on qualifications and experience. 2023 rates $78,444 – $82,440.
