Mankato and North Mankato Citywide Greenhouse Gas Inventories

Louis Schwartzkopf, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Physics at Minnesota State University, Mankato and member of Region 9 Renewable Energy Task Force, has prepared a study of greenhouse gas emissions for the cities of Mankato North Mankato. The report is the result of an agreement among the cities, the Envision 2020 Energy Conservation Task Force, and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. The purpose of the study is to provide a baseline against which yearly changes in the greenhouse gas emissions can be compared.

In December 2014, the City of Mankato and City of North Mankato entered into a joint agreement with Mr. Schwartzkopf for a 2-year update of the study, researching and evaluating emissions from 2010 and 2011, to provide additional information and insight for emissions reductions strategies. The update will commence in 2015 with data collection by city staff and assisted by Mr. Schwartzkopf. As updates are available they will be posted to this website.
