Title: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Cover
Review: This book was really good! I loved it because sometimes it relates a lot to my friends and I. There are high school age four girls who separate for the summer, but keep in touch by using the Pants. They write little notes on it, and write letters each other. The four girls are Bridget, Lena, Carmen, and Tibby. As the girls go through death, problems, and hard situations, they realize the importance of friends.

Title: Wait Till Helen Comes

Cover

Review:  Twelve year old Molly and her 10 year old brother, Michael, have never liked their younger step-sister, Heather.  She's made their lives miserable.  Now their parents have moved them into a house that used to be a church, with a cemetery as a backyard.  Then Heather starts talking to a ghost named Helen and warning Molly and Michael that Helenis coming for them.  Molly is sure that Heather's in danger, but she always twists things around to get Molly into trouble when she tries to help.  It seems as though things can't get any worse.

But they do-when Helen comes.

Title: Love Comes Softly
Cover
Review: This book is Christian fiction, and a wonderful novel! It is a book once you start you can't put down, and when you finish you can't wait to start the next book in the series. It's about a widow and a widower who are forced to be married together because the man needs someone to care for his little daughter, Missie. They gradually learn to love each other, and have many children later one. This is a GREAT book! There are other books in this series, and another series following up that series. Janette Oke is a wonderful author.

Title: The Martian Chronicles
Cover
Review: This book begins in the year 2030, when humans are beginning to travel to Mars.  At first, the native Martians kill all the humans who come to their planet, but the Martians eventually become extinct after being infected with chicken pox.  Soon many humans immigrate to Mars, hoping for a better life, ignoring the ruins of the magnificent Martian civilization while building new cities modeled and named after cities in America.  I don’t want to give away too much of the plot, so you’ll have to read the book to find out what happens next.
I loved reading this book!  Even though it was written around 1950, it seemed really new and original.  Bradbury’s writing is very descriptive and filled with action, and it made me want to keep on reading to find out what happened next!  My only complaint about this book is that so many characters, both humans and Martians, were killed.  Except for that, I think that anyone who likes science fiction, fantasy, or adventure books would like reading The Martian Chronicles.

Title: And Then There Were None

Cover

Review: This novel is about ten people who receive mysterious invitations to a weeklong vacation on a secluded island.  After they arrive, they discover that their host and hostess are nowhere to be found.  The ten guests soon start to die suddenly, one at a time.  The remaining guests all become suspicious of each other and desperately try to discover the murderer’s identity while trying to avoid becoming the next victim.
I honestly felt sometimes that I could not put this book down!  I just had to find out how the mystery would be solved.  The murderer was actually not any of the characters that I thought it would be!  At first, it seemed that there were too many characters for me to keep track of, but after a few of them died, the story was easier to understand.  I recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery, crime, or suspense.

Title: The Mysterious Island

Review: The Mysterious Island is about four men, a teenage boy, and a dog who are in a hot air balloon during a bad storm and land on an island.  They work together to survive, and do some amazing things that I did not expect to be in a book about people surviving on an island.  For example, one of the men is really smart and makes lots of things, even glass and explosives, from things he finds on the island.  They also build a large boat.  They also capture some animals and keep them to eat, ride, or to use their wool.  Mysterious things keep happening that they cannot explain, and there is a very interesting explanation for the mysterious events in the end.
This is definitely one of the best books I have ever read!  When I was done, I wanted it to be longer, because I didn’t want to have to stop reading it.  I think most people would love to read this book and would greatly enjoy it.

Review: I thought this book was awesome because you could get into the book right away. It was also action, suspense, and a love story all in one. The characters were realistic. It was like watching a movie in your head. You should read the book. The movie comes out December 12!

Title: Don Quixote
Cover
Review: This book is about the adventures of the madman Don Quixote.  He has spent much of his life reading books about knights, and he ends up believing that he is a knight, too.  He convinces his neighbor Sancho Panza to become his squire, and they go looking for things to do.  Don Quixote thinks a lot of strange things.  For example, he thinks that windmills are giants and that a flock of sheep is an army.  A lot of bad things happen to him – he ends up losing half an ear and about a third of his teeth, and he gets his hand tied to a window and is left hanging there.  During the whole book, he talks about Dulcinea of Toboso, the lady he says he loves although he has actually never met her.
I did not like every part of this book, but overall it is an enjoyable book and most people would probably enjoy reading it.

Title: The Night the White Deer Died

Review: This book is about a 15-year-old girl named Janet who feels like an outcast because she doesn’t have any friends and she’s the only white student in her school.  One day, Janet meets an old drunken Indian named Billy Honcho who asks her for some money to buy wine.  Janet gives him the money, but she then tries to make him into a better person.  Janet eventually realizes that she has fallen in love with Billy, and Billy realizes how much Janet cares about him.
This book really held my attention.  I enjoyed the story very much, and I think that most other people would like it, too.  The book is written in Gary Paulsen’s unique, vivid style and tells a moving story about the power of love.
