The City of North Mankato wishes to inform its residents they may begin co-mingling recyclables for curbside pickup.  This is different than previous guidance given to citizens instructing them to sort newspaper, cans, glass, and plastic before placing them at the curb.  Hansen Sanitation has and will provide co-mingled recycling service as part of their weekly curbside pickup.  This action is taken as a result of existing practice and the recommendations to North Mankato staff by FOTH Infrastructure & Environment, LLC., to prepare for a transition to single-stream curbside recyclable collection.  This is the first step in that process.  As part of the request for proposal process scheduled to be completed next year, the city will determine whether or not to move from totes to carts for curbside recycling pick-up.
